Data import

Drop in a charging-session dataset, a station registry or health readings. EVOLT recognises the file, checks every row and shows you what will happen before anything is saved — then analyses the chargers and trains a model on any labels.

Example files

Small example files in the expected format. The session file is the dataset EVOLT loads on first start.

ev-charging-grid-sessions.csv — 1,000 labelled charging sessions (the dataset used for model training)
registry-example.csv — two stations, three chargers
observations-example.csv — readings for those chargers, including rows that will be rejected
observations-example.json — the same format as JSON

Session file columns10 fields

station_coderequired: Station identifier. Stations are created automatically.
observed_atrequired: When the session happened. Times without a timezone use the timezone chosen on import.
charging_mode: e.g. Fast, Conventional, V2G. Each station + charging type becomes one charger.
charger_code: Charger identifier, if the file has one (otherwise station + charging type is used).
connector_type: CCS2, CHAdeMO, Type2… Recorded as “Not recorded” when absent.
area: e.g. Urban, Suburban, Rural. Kept per session.
power_loss: Analysed for persistent deviations and trends per charger.
voltage_fluctuation: Supporting evidence only (unit assumed %, as the file states none).
power_loss_label: Optional label. Used to train and test a classifier.
voltage_stability_label: Optional label. Used to train and test a classifier.

Registry columns13 fields

station_coderequired: Stable identifier of the station/site.
station_namerequired: Display name.
address: Street address.
city: City or town.
region: State/region.
country: Country name or ISO code.
latitude: WGS84 decimal degrees, −90 to 90. Leave both coordinates empty if unknown.
longitude: WGS84 decimal degrees, −180 to 180.
operator: Charge-point operator.
charger_coderequired: Stable identifier of the charger/connector.
connector_typerequired: CCS2, CCS1, CHAdeMO, Type2, GBT or NACS.
rated_power_kw: Nameplate power in kW.
operational_status: available, in_use, offline or unknown.

Health-reading columns8 fields

charger_coderequired: Must match a charger already in EVOLT.
observed_atrequired: ISO 8601 with timezone, e.g. 2026-05-01T10:00:00Z. Date-only values are read as 00:00 UTC.
metricrequired: contact_resistance, voltage_drop, fault_count or temperature_rise.
valuerequired: Numeric value. Empty values are rejected, never treated as zero.
unitrequired: Unit of the value; converted to the metric's canonical unit.
temperature_c: Contact temperature when measured, in °C. When every reading has one, resistance and voltage drop are restated at 20 °C.
provenance: observed, derived, estimated or sample.
source: Free-text source, e.g. instrument or system name.

Metrics and accepted units

contact_resistance stored in mΩ: Accepts mohm, mΩ, milliohm, ohm, Ω, uohm, µΩ; plausible range 0–100.
voltage_drop stored in mV: Accepts mV, mv, V, v; plausible range 0–10000.
fault_count stored in count: Accepts count, faults, n; plausible range 0–10000.
power_loss stored in kW: Accepts kW, kw, W, w; plausible range 0–500.
voltage_fluctuation stored in %: Accepts %, pct, percent; plausible range 0–100.
temperature_rise stored in °C: Accepts C, °C, degC, K; plausible range -20–150.
